A cypress-lined road is only the beginning. Tuscany becomes personal when you step into a stone lane, take a seat overlooking the hills or give a glass of wine the time it deserves.

For a day from Rome, let one part of the region tell its story. Pienza and Montepulciano make a natural pairing: a compact Renaissance town, a hilltop wine destination and a landscape that invites you to slow down between them.

Two towns. One beautiful day.

Pienza

Start with the lanes and the views. Pienza grew from the vision of Pope Pius II, whose Renaissance ambitions reshaped his birthplace. Today, its small scale invites a leisurely walk.

Then taste the local pecorino. Compare a younger cheese with an aged one and let lunch become part of the visit.

Montepulciano

The streets climb toward Piazza Grande, with cellars and views along the way. This is the home of Vino Nobile di Montepulciano. Book one tasting and leave time to explore on foot.

A good wine day begins with a choice of place. Montepulciano invites you into the world of Vino Nobile; Montalcino offers a different journey, centered on Brunello. Give each area its own time.
